Landpower and our CLAAS Harvest Centre network is the largest privately-owned farm machinery distribution network in Australasia, servicing primary producers and agricultural contractors from 32 strategic locations throughout Australia and New Zealand and Australia. Our Melbourne and Christchurch offices co-ordinate wholesale activities and support functions across Australia and New Zealand, and each of our CLAAS Harvest Centres is a regional sales, service and support hub for the complete range of CLAAS and other leading farm machinery brands. Following significant recent growth and our continued ambition to expand the business further, a new role as Payroll Administrator has become available within our busy, sociable and talented finance team! Key responsibilities in the role will include:

  • End-to-end payroll function in New Zealand, comprising fortnightly and monthly processing.
  • Working closely with various stakeholders on all payroll related matters (i.e. Finance, People & Culture, software provider, and Branches)
  • Providing payroll and legislative advice and solutions to employees and managers
  • Providing monthly reporting on key payroll metrics
  • Supporting the month-end and year-end preparation including journals, reconciling payroll tax, staff accounts, and general payroll queries
  • Reviewing payroll practices and systems to gain efficiencies and streamline the process
  • Assist the Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable Team with various tasks when needed

So what are we looking for?

  • Proven experience in payroll, preferably in a medium to large organisation.
  • Desire and ability to contribute to continued development of our payroll processes and resources
  • Strong knowledge of employment agreements and payroll related legislation (Employment Act, Holidays Act, Minimum Wage Act, Parental Leave Act, Kiwisaver Act, Wages Protection Act, and Employment Relations Act)
  • Experience of the ACC process
  • Competent user of Excel to analyse information
  • Proficient with payroll systems, even better if you’re familiar with DataPay.
  • A team player with demonstrated communication and collaboration skills
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
