We are seeking a General Manager - Technology to drive and implement change across the Landpower Group, unlocking the potential within our organisation and guiding us on the next phase of technology transformation.

About the opportunity
Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer, the General Manager– Technology is a member of the Group Leadership Team with a shared responsibility for setting the strategic direction of the Landpower group as a whole and for deploying strategy throughout the organisation and specifically in their portfolio.

You’ll take accountability for the strategic and operational leadership of IT and systems, continually evolving a comprehensive digital strategy and road map that aligns to the overall business strategy and leading the implementation of all plans, projects and activity. A key part of the role is to deliver the significant piece of work that is the IT road map.

The General Manager - Technology leads a culture of service excellence within the IT function; ensuring internal customer needs are understood and that delivery meets or exceeds expectations. This role holds leadership responsibility for the IT team and ensures the team is engaged, continually developing and delivers outcomes that are aligned with the organisations purpose and values.

The role is based in Christchurch but collaborates with all teams across the trans-Tasman Landpower business, including the Melbourne Distribution Centre and the growing network of CLAAS Harvest Centres. You will be responsible to:

  • Lead the ongoing development and implementation of a technology and systems strategy
  • Leads a committed team of Information Technology and Digital Professionals
  • Collaborate with all internal teams to determine needs and partner to co-design solutions that meet those needs
  • Oversee the successful delivery of the IT Road Map programme of work
  • Ensure all Group Operating Systems (including ERP and CRM), infrastructure and hardware meet the needs of the business
  • Evolve the organisations digital strategy, ensuring all initiatives, internal and external are aligned to wider business strategy
  • Manages and fosters relationships with trusted vendor suppliers

About you
To be successful in this role, you will be experienced in leading the strategy and successful delivery of technology solutions and support in fast paced, complex and commercial environments. You’re as comfortable rolling your sleeves up to get the work done as you are engaging in strategic planning with your peers.

A working knowledge of Programme delivery and Agile ways of working and delivering outcomes is preferred. Leadership experience, coaching, developing and enabling others to realise their full potential and deliver outcomes is essential.

Being customer oriented and taking a partnership approach will be critical to your success. An entrepreneurial spirit with demonstrated ability to seek out and develop business improvements consistent with organisational goals is important.

You have a passion and prior experience with digital strategy and leading high performing IT teams, and comfortable engaging internal and external stakeholders at all levels. You’ll be familiar with leading integration of systems: our farm machinery supplier partners are innovating in the digital space.
